hi bab uwu do you have any tips on writing characters that are sex workers~? what are things that are inaccurate people seem to write about them~? anything you would be happy to see~? no need to reply to this if it makes you uncomfy, just a curious writer~

SANE.    i love you and i love this question !!!    it’s important to know that sex workers aren’t pathetic, weak, or desperate, which i see a lot.   Sex workers are often independent, live on their own, have their own car, and function in society as normal people, despite their job. that being said, sex workers are often much more     WEALTHY   than normal, working people.   ( in my case, i make 10k a month, but it depends entirely on whether or not you want to use a booker or not! )   I, personally, think it’s necessary to write strong sex working characters, so as not to perpetuate the ongoing stereotype that we’re all doing it because we have no other choice.   Most people I know in the industry   ( including myself! )   like the job because of the power dynamic.  Meaning, you’re in control one hundred percent of the time, regardless of your clients thinking they are.   It’s also important to include the fact that not all of your clients are great people !!!    Sex workers face a lot of struggles, because if a client does something bad to you   ( rapes you, or steals from you )   you can’t report it to the police, because they will arrest you for admitting to prostitution.   So, secrecy is often key.   These are suggestions based on my personal experience, come to me any time if you have any specific questions !!!
